Am getting quite fed up with not being able to post, incidentally. Néablog still looks like it did before my Dec 11 posting. Hmph.

I just saw Dunx’ long posting about patents which I found really interesting. A lot of things there I didn’t know.

My Australian friends may be interested to read this – a list of symptoms to tell you you’ve been living in Sweden for too long. Some of them are natural, self-evident things such as 1, or 3, or 16; 9 on the other hand seems odd and 6 is downright foreign. 62, 65 and 67 are things that divide the nation, and I’m firmly on the “NO” side. But all in all it’s a very entertaining list and much of it is spot on 🙂

Here are more kittens than you could shake your tail at. The page contains almost 200 pictures so it takes a goodish while to load. Once it’s fully loaded, however, you’ll get cute-stroke.

Hello…. Remember me? I’m the one who’s supposed to be keeping this blog.

My seminar was yesterday – the one where I put forward my research proposal, being the thing I’ve worked on for most of these last two months. Today I’m absolutely knackered. It does take it out of you, sitting for almost two hours in front of a dozen people (plus one in Michigan, following the proceedings through a speaker phone) who keep plucking the child of your brain to pieces. I got lots of criticism but found myself surprisingly able to take it; it was constructive criticism and included a whole lot of praise as well which does make it easier 🙂

But I will have to rethink my research a bit, I find. Not completely, but a bit. In fact, I will probably return to what I first intended to do – and that doesn’t seem all bad. (I know I’m being vague. You are welcome to ask for more details – many of you will get those details whether you ask for them or not!)

I have no driver’s license, nor am I particularly likely ever to get one – but I can learn to drive anyway! (I’ve only managed four situations yet, and the left turn I get wrong 95% of the times. It’s probably just as well I’m not out there in traffic for real.)
