Blimey. The Blogger interface looks completely different. Well, as long as it works….

Smugness time again!

Winner of Best World/Svenska editor Spring 2004

On the other hand – check the left-hand column, I’m a Lowly Insect! Only yesterday I was an Insignificant Microbe. I’m climbing the ecosystem.

I’m annoyed.

Blogger has been working really well of late, but today it ate a posting – one I started writing last night, saved as a draft and finished this afternoon when I’d written 4711 work documents and couldn’t take any more. Thing is, it was a posting I’d put a great deal of thought into, so it’s more than tedious to re-write it.

On the other hand it will probably be better second time around.

There was a total lunar eclipse last night. It wasn’t wholly visible from here – and anyway it was overcast – but other parts of the world were right in the eclipse zone

A wonderful comic randomiser – text and picture are separated in one-panel comics and randomly put together with fantastic results. From Kevan.

Have written a rather rudimentary web page for professional purposes. Hopefully it won’t remain quite as rudimentary for too long.

What are they doing?? The building I work in, the Centre for Language Studies, has been a building site for many moons now; we have had large drills above us, large men walking past our window (on the first floor, or second if you are an American) and large objects blocking the doorways. But now it’s getting worse: the last few days the builders have been doing something involving large machines just outside, and it’s making our entire office vibrate. Desks, chairs, computers, all of it. The keys vibrate under my fingers as I type this. “Think of it as a free hand massage,” said Sara. Gaah! say I.

We Walpurged, and we May Dayed (I ended up 7th and Johan 11th in the Pooh Sticks, out of 17.) Other than that, not much. I have had a seminar scheduled for June 1st, so am rather panicked about getting finished; more nervous about that than about the symposium on the 12th.
